Tietoliikenneluokan (L-license class) activity contest and UHF Thursday contests rules for year 2002

Unofficial translation by Pekka, OH8HBG!

FIRST DRAFT !!!!! Comments must be sent to pekka.pussinen @! oulu.fi INSTANTLY!

These two contests arranged in the same time are meant to create some activity on the 70cm band once a month. The main interest of these contests is active working, so as many OH-stations as possible would be on the air. L-class operators will attend to activity contests and others to UHF Thursday.

L-Class Activity Contest

Attendees Contest is only for L-class (novice) licensed amateurs in Finland, but they may work all amateur stations.
Time Third Thursday of each month, at 20-24 Finnish time, despite daylight savings.
Sections Multimode and FM.
Scoring 1 point/1km. Shorter than 10km=10 points.
A station may be worked twice per contest, both time in different mode.
Each square (even the square where the competitor is located at, if had a QSO to that square) results bonus-score of 300 points. Each Finnish county (even the own county) results bonus-score of 100 points.
Report RST, WW-locator and Finnish county number.
Logs Log must be written in VHF-UHF LOG of the SRAL, or equivalent A4-sized log-sheet.
It is suggested that the log is made by the computer software by OH6MF and OH6MGI for MS-DOS (Freeware). Log is not the list of the QSOs generated by the computer.
Time should be written down in the UTC.
County number is noted after the RST.
Number of squares and number of counties worked must be clearly noted in the log, check-logs are welcome.
Total points must be noted on the topmost logsheets upper right corner on the cell "Total points". Only column which will not be filled is the column "don't fill".
Logs should be sent before next weeks Thursday to:

Mauri Järviharju OH6MTC
Iso Lauhantie 8
64900 ISOJOKI

Logs could also be sent by email or packet radio, but NOT by SMS.
Logs arrived overdue, erroneously or insufficiently filled logs could be disqualified.
Winners The station which has gained most points in the sum of nine chosen months contests of the year, is the winner of his section.
Three best of both sections will be awarded, other competitors will get the Certificate of Honour, if they have sent logs for 5 contests.
Errors If the log inspector notes the invalid log entry, then the one erroneous character (in the report or in the locator) will result 25% loss, two characters will result 50% loss of the points which would be given from that QSO. Three or more erroneous characters or the error in the call sign will yield to the disqualification of the QSO.
County bonus is not awarded if there is an error in the county number.
The competitor will have, if wanted, the report concerning the point losses from the contest manager. VHF-committee of the SRAL will solve the disputes. The committees decision is final.
General Competitor must comply with IARU region 1 band plan.
Duplicates and incompleted QSOs must be noted in the log, but without points.
It is forbidden to use call channels, multi-TX- and multi-operator working (ie. competitor may not get help from others in the club station for listening, log writing, rotator controlling etc.), QSOs via active repeaters, power permitted by the special license, and changing QTH on the single contest.
Competitor who does not comply the rules, Ficoras regulations or behaves unsportmanslikely can be disqualified on the contest.
The organizer wishes that competitors with multi-mode rigs would use SSB for the first hour to help FM-channels to be available enough in the beginning of the contest.
The results of each contest will be published as soon as possible in Radioamatööri-magazine.
The contest will be continued at 2002 if all the contests have get at least 5 logs from L-class operators.
